We are upgrading all of the sites that run on WordPress to the latest version, 2.3. Each site will be down for a few minutes throughout the day, so if you visit your site and it’s not working, just give it a few minutes and it should be working just fine. Even better, in fact!
Everyone wants their site to have traffic. Sure, there are dozens of ways to get people to your site, but most of them require you to pay fees. But the great thing about the internet is there is more than one way to de-fur a feline. So, how do you get free traffic to your site?
1. Post constantly. – The more you post, the fresher the content, the higher your ranking on search engines and social networking sites. This is waaaaay more effective than making sure your keywords are all set up nicely.
2. Get syndicated. – Try to get your posts to appear on other sites in real-time, or set it up where people can subscribe to your RSS feed. You can set multiple sites of your own up to do this, but it would be far better if you could convince other sites to share the stream, so to speak. If you could get on a mainstream site, your personal blog’s traffic will skyrocket, and you could find a nice little source of income there…especially if you could get on several sites. Don’t forget to use services like Technorati, Digg, and Reddit to spread the word about your posts, either…
3. Make friends. – The internet is no longer a mindless cesspool of information (believe it or not). There are millions of people out there all over the world that are always online. Social networking is a way to bring your website out of the phonebook and into real life, so to speak. Without a personality or name attached to your site, it had better be encyclopedic in nature. Most of the time, people who use the internet want a quick and concise answer from an unbiased source, but the rest of the time they’re using it to make contact with people.
