I registered Metzae.net a decade ago right after adopting the screen name Metzae. Since then, it has grown into a large network of websites that cover everything from photos to politics to profanity. It is one of the most unique websites I’ve ever created and is full of things to discover. Some of them are obvious and some are intentionally hard to find. Though the website doesn’t follow the schemes of most other websites (especially since the evolution of social networks), it does have a specific purpose. It is digital art, a virtual exhibit and experiment all in one. If you decide to look through it, there’s only one thing I can tell you: look closer.

Now open for business!
Since Metzae Media is an online-only company, we may never have a building for you to walk into. Honestly, there’s just no reason for it. If we had to pay bills for a physical location, our overhead would skyrocket. And rather than increase prices just so we could have an address on our business cards, we decided not to even look for office space.
And then there was Second Life…
With the re-discovery of the Second Life metaverse, we finally have a place to call home (besides metzaemedia.com, of course). The virtual reality in SL makes it possible for us to have a “physical” location that customers can visit and browse at their leisure. Construction on Metzae Media Tower started a couple weeks ago and is now practically complete. We encourage everyone to check it out when they have the time. It’s free to join SL and the software requirements are not that high.
There is an art gallery where virtual pieces can be purchased, a gallery of the various websites Metzae Media has worked on, a concert hall for our musical pieces such as Symphoniacal, a lounge for people to relax and chat, and many other things that are still to come!
After much deliberation (okay, it actually only took about a second), Metzae Media is going with WordPress. The old version is here, but this is going to be the permanent version of the site. WordPress has proven to be a highly-effective and reliable piece of software, and there’s just no reason why we shouldn’t use it.
This year at the Rusty Duncan seminar, Metzae Media was present and offered a chance for visitors to win a free basic website. Well, I’ve just drawn the cards and I wanted to let everyone know that the winner is Arnie Miller from Amarillo. My method was simple: I took all the names, put them in a random order, and then programmed a random number generator to pick a number.

After several years working with another host, we’ve discovered a much better option: BlueHost. We will be moving each site (slowly) to the new host. Expect each site to go through its own shutdown period and for there to be random glitches until we get settled in. If you happen to run into one of these glitches, we’d be more than appreciative if you told us about them.
